Similar to Cognac, Calvados is protected by an Appelation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) ensuring its authenticity and heritage.

We use at least 30% of pears in our Calvados increasing its freshness and fruitness.

Calvados is a distinguished variety of brandy, but unlike the classic grape-based versions such as Cognac or Armagnac, Calvados is crafted from apples—and pears for the Calvados we offer you—grown exclusively in Normandy, France. The process begins with fermenting apple cider, which is then distilled and aged in oak barrels for a minimum of two years, allowing it to develop a unique flavor profile. The flavor of Calvados is a captivating journey. Younger expressions offer bright, fresh pears and apples and floral notes with a crisp acidity, while well-aged Calvados reveals richer layers of baked apple, vanilla, warm spices, caramel, and even hints of toasted nuts and dried fruit. This evolution in flavor, combined with its fruity brightness and oak-induced complexity, makes Calvados a versatile and sophisticated spirit.

Why is Calvados ideal for cocktails? Its vibrant apple character and balanced acidity bring a fresh, lively quality that complements a wide range of ingredients. The oak aging adds warmth and depth, allowing Calvados to stand out without overpowering other flavors. Bartenders appreciate its ability to add subtle fruitiness and complexity, making it perfect for both classic cocktails like the Calvados Sidecar and innovative modern creations. Moreover, its sustainable production rooted in Normandy’s natural orchards adds an ethical appeal to its enjoyment. In conclusion, Calvados is not only a noble brandy with a rich heritage but also a dynamic and flavorful spirit that elevates cocktails with its unique apple essence and nuanced complexity. Whether sipped neat or mixed into a cocktail, Calvados invites you to savor a true taste of Normandy’s tradition and craftsmanship.
